Ketchikan, AK

Welcome to Ketchikan! A great little city on the southern tip of Alaska. It was our nicest day for weather, even saw some sunshine which is quite unusual for this city that has over 300 days of rain annually.

We visited Saxman village, where totem poles have been carved for many years. It was a really neat place, crazy how much detail was in the carvings. This is us making our own totem pole!

This is a picture of Creekside, a little village built on a walkway over a creek. Lots of shopping was to be done here! In the old days, one of these buildings housed a brothel.

Also during our day here, we ate at the infamous Chico's Mexican Restaurant, whose sign boasted "Best Pizza in Town" (huh??). We took a bear watching tour, which was unsuccessful for bear sightings but was a great way to see the town from a local's perspective. We saw a huge waterfall, which Mike tried to scale of course. And we spent lots of time browsing the local art galleries. It was a really nice last day in Alaska.
