Icy Strait Point was our third port, and was just a tiny little town with a few shops. It's claim to fame was the world's longest zipline, which is over a mile long and zips you along at speeds topping 60mph! It was a tough call over whether to zipline or whale watch, and we chose the latter but our ziplining friends said it was awesome! I'll take their word for it - I wasn't too thrilled about the idea myself, though I was willing to brave it if need-be :)
So we went out on a smaller boat about 15 minutes ride from the cruise ship, to find the whales. And find them we did! There were tons of them, probably 30 or 40 different whales in pods. They were breaching and talking to each other (sounds awesome!) and slapping their tails. This picture gives you an idea how close they were to us, and how many there were!

It was awesome when their tails came up. There are seagulls or something everywhere around the whales, eating the little fish they bring to the surface. They're so dependable for pointing out whale-watching areas that the locals call them "indicator birds."
We walked some trails back on land, these trees were huge! It was really pretty in here, the whole little town seemed very rustic and untouched.

Whale watching was the highlight of our cruise; we'd just never seen anything like it in its natural environment. I've seen whales before at aquariums, but this was just awesome.
