Read, read, read. Finally!

Reading has recently become a big deal around our house.  Brady just started in the last couple weeks bringing books to us & grunting his desire to sit on our laps for a few seconds of "reading" - and he's impossible to resist, so we always sit down & read with him.

However, let me just admit that this really is the first time he's been consistently read to.  I know "they" recommend reading daily to your baby from way earlier on than 15 months.  But we just didn't do it all that much, mostly because (gasp) it wasn't something that I liked doing before now.  He's very verbal & understands so much of what we ask of him or talk to him about, and I think he's just fine even though we chose not to read every day.   I don't think reading is the only way to help your baby develop speech & understanding, so I just read to him randomly, maybe once a week.  But we were always talk-talk-talking about everything (long before he could understand it...maybe I'm more a talker than a reader ;)) Anyway, now we do it daily because he's interested in it and it's way more enjoyable for everyone than earlier in his little life.

Proof that sometimes choosing not to follow the expert's advice & trusting my own intuition is absolutely fine ;) He talks, has lots of words, and signs even more.

And now we read every day!

Don't judge me by my (ripped) cover!  This was a hand-me-down book from a friend whose babies loved it well...and it's one of Brady's favorites so it has been well-loved by him too.  And oops, the cover ripped off.

There's lots of pointing going on!  Lots of identifying & new words.

LOVE this of my two lovies.  All done reading now, thanks Dad!
