Juneau, AK

Juneau was the first port we stopped at, and it was one of our favorites places. Somewhere we'd definitely consider going back to, to vacation independently. Some of the highlights...

Jen and I spent our morning at a dogsled camp! It was perhaps the best time I had on the trip!!

Here are the dogs getting ready to pull six adults on a makeshift "sled" - similar to a golf cart. There was no snow, as it's summertime, and so we did a dry run around some trails. It was a blast. When we pulled up in the van, all these dogs started jumping up and down in their harnesses. To them, vans mean they get to run. And they live to run.

One of the activities at the dog camp is socializing the babies. Okay, if you insist. We played with the little monsters, who chewed on everything they could get to, including our jacket zippers, sleeves, fingers and this pile of wood! They were adorable, as you'd expect.

The guys on their hike to Mendenhall Glacier. They saw this waterfall near the trail. What an awesome part of the country this is! They also saw a bear on the trail, but no worries - Mike and Mike chased it off!

After our hikes and doggie time, everyone joined up for lunch at a little restaurant on the water where we watched float planes land by the cruise docks.
Then we walked around Juneau for a couple hours, shopping and taking pictures. It was a beautiful town, surrounded on almost every side by big green mountains. The fog over the mountains was beautiful. It was cloudy, but not too cold and thankfully it didn't rain.

Ice cream was part of the walking around part! Who can resist?
