Orlando Getaway

We're back!! The Hammer-Apostle birthday weekend in Orlando was a success. We went down Friday night and ate a late dinner at The Olive Garden before checking into our fabulous hotel (thanks, Mike) and playing a round of Battle of the Sexes. We fell asleep late, totally exhausted from a busy week.

The girls slept in Saturday morning, while Mike and Noa went for a brief 15 mile run. Then we all got ready and raced to our favorite lunch spot - Taco Bell! - to enjoy Crunch Wrap Supremes for each of us. Next, we went to Universal Citywalk, where we headed into Islands of Adventure - which is a theme park of sorts, with water rides and roller coasters and the likes. Once there, we headed to the much-anticipated Hulk roller coaster....where, after waiting an hour (literally) in line, and upon finally getting within sight of the front of the line, they announced some technical difficulties.......and shut down the whole ride indefinitely!!! Given that it was late in the afternoon by this point - 4pm - and the park closed at 8pm, we cut our losses and decided to scrap the whole park rather than wait in a million lines all day. Through Mike and Noa's negotiations with the customer service staff, we were able to get our money back (on "non-refundable" tickets no less!!) and headed out of the park. We ended up having a great afternoon, playing mini-golf, eating ice cream, and hitting the outlet malls!! We retired that night with a little hot-tubbing and ordered pizzas in our hotel room. It was my favorite day for sure.

Sunday we had room-service breakfast in bed and watched a movie, before laying out by the pool reading the latest gossip magazines. We then hit the huge Mall at Millenia where we shopped some more and had big lunches (Chinese for the guys, salads for the girls). The guys even bought some things, so they were good sports about shopping with us! We hit the road Sunday night to head home, happy and tired.

It was the perfect relaxing get-away for all of us. And I'm not sure I've ever laughed so much in my life! I couldn't have asked for a better weekend with better friends. Posted by Picasa
